The card is only ever as good as the photograph.
We are putting together a short list of photographers we would happily send our own customers to — people who shoot families and couples well, and who understand that the picture has to survive being printed at 5×7 on heavy stock.
It is not live yet, and we would rather say that than pad it out. If you need someone this season, book locally and use the brief below — it is what we would ask for anyway.
Four things to ask for, whoever you book
Our designs have particular needs. Send these to your photographer before the shoot and your card will be markedly easier to set — and markedly better.
Shoot vertical too
Most of our photo designs are portrait. A landscape frame has to be cropped hard to fit a 5×7, and that is usually where somebody loses an elbow.
More frames than you think
Portrait Ledger and Postcard Noel take one photograph. The Annual takes two, Snapshot Grid four, and Contact Sheet seven. Ask for a set, not a single hero shot.
Full-size files, not exports for social
Ask for the largest JPEG or TIFF your photographer will give you. Our upload takes up to 20 MB a file; anything bigger, email it and we will use it.
Leave breathing space
Cards print with bleed, so the outer edge of every photograph is trimmed away. Framing a little loose means nothing important sits where the knife goes.
We are taking applications now.
If you shoot families, couples or weddings and you would like to be on the list, tell us about your work. We are reading everything that comes in.
What we are looking for:
- Family, couple or wedding work you are proud of — a portfolio link is plenty
- A real service area, so we can point people to someone who can actually reach them
- Files delivered at full resolution to your clients
- Someone we would be comfortable recommending by name
No fee, either direction. We are not selling placement and we are not taking a cut of your bookings. A listing is a recommendation, and it is worth nothing to anybody if it can be bought.
Already have your photographs? You can upload them straight onto the card — start with the holiday collection, or see how the whole thing works.
